Governor Joko “Jokowi” Widodo’s move to stop student brawls has earned political support from the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) faction at the City Council, who also said parents should play an important role in educating and monitoring their children.
Dwi Ria Sumbodo, a member of Commission E on education and social welfare at the council, said her commission and faction fully supported the governor’s quick response to handling juvenile crimes, including student brawls in the city.“Our faction appreciates the educative and humane approach deployed by the governor,” she said as quoted by tribunnews.com. Ria, who is also secretary of the PDI-P faction, said that parents should always monitor their kids. “Family is a moral gate after education,” she said.
