I'm back....so I want to share you about the foremost reason for the fighting between Jakarta high school students.
Check it out : http://www.thejakartapost.com/news/2012/10/04/pride-not-rivalry-triggers-student-brawls.html
So, a friend of mine knows this things very well or he's actually involves in that kind of world. He told me a little bit about "behind the fighting"
So this is true, the main reason is pride. Generally, Indonesian love to socialize and interact each others. High school students, especially the guys love to hang out after school. Each high school usually has each "hang-out spot."It's not a fancy spot, but really comfy for them and somehow fit for lots of people. They usually chit-chat with friends or play game there. To this point, they are still okay. But then come up a weird idea. They want to show they are more stand out than other dudes from other school. They want to be known, more exist, and feared by other school. Then they compete for pride.
“To some extent, other schools fight us because they want to prove they can defeat us. It’s a matter of glory, not always rivalry,” Iban, 16, a 12th-grader at a public school in Jakarta [Jakarta Post]
Then, it continues to the next generation....
The innocent new generation, entering high school without any enemies. But the seniors told them to keep continue the "tradition", brainwash about the pride, or how to be coolest guy on earth. The innocent new generation then imagined too far and changed their mind. Fighting is like a new obligation for them. Now, they new generation think they have enemy. The fact is it's unilateral enemy, not necessarily they have a problem with the opposed school. Inevitably they gotta do it for..pride
Now,we're know....What are we gonna do? let them grow?let the"tradition" alive?
You better not..oops I mean you have to stop it
how?
don't let your friend/son/daughter/sister/brother/girlfriend/boyfriend/junior/senior get involve in brawling... you gotta speak up! Tell them it's totally wrong!
