According to National commission for child protection, in 2013 there are 255 cases of fighting among students. This number increased 112 cases from last year, which is a very significant number! It is a warning for all of us..the more people engaged in a fight, the more likely our future of our youth will be ruined. They are like the reflection of the previous generations of our country. Ask ourself, can we prevent fighting among youth?
These are some reasons that usually start the fight. Small reasons that end up with big fights.
- Pride or competing for power
- Social jealousy
- Feeling mocked or ridiculed
- Forced by situation or condition
- Arrogance
- Tradition/Alumni instruction (power of individuals in the group)
- (fad) fill the free time when out together with friends
How to prevent it? Here are some ways to prevent it:
- Counselling and character building. This way is the easiest way to prevent it. It can be done by anyone. Keep telling people about the risk of fighting and do personal approach are the simple way to prevent it. Even spread the campaign through social media and make it as a trend is a simple way to do it!
- The existence of strong delegates
- Mediation: open communication between the rivals
How to tackle it?
1. Strict punishment
2. Again, counselling, character building, personal approach
3. Provide a positive space for them that take part in doing something useful instead of fighting
